Pediatric dentistry

A child’s first dental visit should feel safe and positive.

The first visit is usually an adaptation appointment. We show the mirror, chair and lamp, and do not force treatment if the child is not ready. The goal is to build trust for years.

What the visit can include

  • Adaptation visits
  • Prevention of caries in primary teeth
  • Fissure sealing
  • Fluoride varnish
  • Composite fillings for children
  • Initial orthodontic consultation

Patient questions

When should a child first see a dentist?

Around the first birthday or after the first primary teeth erupt. It is an educational and familiarization visit.

Do primary teeth need treatment?

Yes. They maintain space for permanent teeth and support speech and bite development. Untreated caries can affect permanent teeth.

Can I stay with my child?

Yes, if it helps. Sometimes a parent’s presence makes contact harder, and then we may gently suggest waiting nearby.
