Dental radiology

Every clinical decision should be based on reliable imaging.

Digital radiology lowers the radiation dose compared with traditional film. The image is available on screen within seconds and can be discussed with the patient immediately.

What the visit can include

  • Periapical X-ray
  • Occlusal X-ray
  • Bitewing X-ray
  • Panoramic X-ray referral
  • CBCT referral

Patient questions

Are dental X-rays safe?

Yes. A single digital dental X-ray has a very low dose, comparable with natural background exposure from everyday life.

Can X-rays be taken during pregnancy?

Planned X-rays are avoided during pregnancy. In urgent cases, protection and medical judgment are used.

How often are check-up X-rays needed?

Bitewings are often recommended every 12–18 months to detect interproximal caries; panoramic images are done only when clinically needed.
